America's First Patented Helicopter

Two Sherman County businessmen were able to obtain a very big piece of aviation history when they built America's first patented helicopter. Originally called a gyrocopter, the machine isn't as functional as the metallic birds we see flying in today's sky, but it is twice as interesting. View the original helicopter, only in Northwestern Kansas.

Carry A. Nation was one of the largest proponents of prohibition long before the idea became a law prohibiting the sale and manufacturing of alcohol. Carry began her tirades against "demon rum" at this home, where you'll find a replica of an 1873 stockade as well as historical artifacts including dinosaur bones and relics of the early prairie days.
